Alisha Jenkins

Meet Alisha, a nurturing psychologist devoted to helping children, young people, and families navigate life's challenges together. She creates a safe space where children feel understood, parents feel empowered, and families become more connected.

Alisha has worked extensively within Queensland Health, supporting young people and caregivers through attachment difficulties, complex trauma, emotion regulation, anxiety, and neurodiversity. She believes every child has a unique story, and works to understand challenging behaviours by exploring the emotions beneath them.

Her approach is collaborative and developmentally informed, drawing on dyadic, Theraplay-informed, and play-based interventions to strengthen the connection between children and caregivers while building emotional awareness, confidence, and coping skills.

Alisha values parents as essential partners in therapy, helping them understand their child's emotions and behaviours while building practical strategies for everyday life. She loves seeing families grow in confidence and connection.

Outside the clinic, Alisha enjoys family time, reading, bush walks, and staying active. A passionate animal lover, she shares her home with a dog, cat, two bearded dragons, six chickens, and a tree frog named Jeremiah.

About Alisha

Hi! I'm Alisha πŸ‘‹πŸΌ I'm a psychologist, which means I help kids like you and their families work through tricky emotions, or when life feels hard and confusing! Sometimes people come to see me because they're feeling anxious, angry, sad, or because big emotions seem difficult to wrap their heads around. Other times, families are going through changes or finding it difficult to connect and need to talk to someone about it. Whatever brings you here, you don't have to figure it all out on your own.

I know that everyone is different, so we'll work together to find what works best for you! Sometimes we'll talk, sometimes we’ll play games or do creative activities, and sometimes we’ll learn new ways to understand feelings and handle challenges! There's no right or wrong way to be in our sessions - they're designed for you!

When I'm not at work, you'll usually find me spending time with my partner and kids, reading a good book, going for bush walks, or looking after my many animals. I have a dog, a cat, two bearded dragons, six chickens, and even a green tree frog named Jeremiah! 🐸 Fun fact: I grew up in Darwin, and when I was in Year 10, our class pet was a freshwater crocodile called Snappy! 🐊

I can't wait to meet you πŸ’š
